The Importance of Having A Consultation Prior To Your Portrait Session
When selecting a Winston Salem newborn or family photographer, it's essential that they arrange a consultation with you, either over the phone or in person. This step is crucial. Why? As dedicated artists, we want you to proudly display our work on your walls. We want you to cherish the photographs from our session together; otherwise, what's the point of having portraits taken?
When you book a session with me—whether it’s for maternity, newborn, senior, or family portraits—I want to understand your plans for the images after our session. Will you frame your portraits in 8x10 frames for your bedroom nightstand? Will you print a canvas for the baby’s room? Do you have a mantel that needs a masterpiece, and what size print would you like to display there?
Here is an example of a framed centerpiece and a framed grouping.
Next, I need to know the color scheme of the room where you plan to display your wall art. Are the colors neutral, pastel, or bold? This information will help me guide you in choosing the right clothing. For instance, if your home features pastel tones, wearing bold colors during the session might not be the best choice. As you can see from the portrait display examples, the right clothing selection can beautifully complement your home decor.
Finally, if you find it difficult to make these decisions on your own, choose a photographer who provides this service. Better yet, select a photographer, like me, who will assist you in planning your home decor, whether you purchase products from them or on your own. After all, it’s my work being displayed on your wall, and I want to help make that a reality.
